Family Day Sunday

Family Day Sunday

We try to spend one day a week together.  The week is busy with work and kids activities.  It’s important to take one day a week to have as family time. We spend our one day a week together going shopping, watching movies, playing in the yard, or going to car shows.  My husband, teen, and 5-year-old are really into Volkswagen.   What activities do you love to do with your family?

Teen Drama

Teen Drama

Oh my goodness!   The drama of a teenage girl.  I don’t remember ever being as dramatic as my teen is. The boy…  The drama with the boy.  Why is there all this drama with this boy?  She is not even dating him.  She wants to date him, and he very clearly likes her but they do this dance around the subject.  They have been doing this dance since the end of April.  We keep telling her to put her 1920’s…

Young Girls Developing too Early

Young Girls Developing too Early

A touchy topic, I know. I was on Facebook today, and I came across a picture of my niece’s children.  She has a girl age 6 (the oldest) and two boys, I forget their ages.  The boys look great.  They look like fun-loving little boys.  I was shocked to see the little 6-year-old girl. I know girls are developing at a younger age now.  We are talking between the ages of 10-13 which in reality is around the time that…

Cooking With Kids

Cooking With Kids

My 5 year old was feeling a little left out.  I do vlogs on youtube with my teen.  I also let me preteen do her own little segment.  My little peanut was upset because she wanted to do a video with mommy. Kids love to help cook.  If it’s making breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks they love to help. So I decided to make my sweet girl happy, we would do a cooking with kids vlog.  She’s happy, I’m happy,…

I saw a story on Facebook today.  Yes I know, don’t believe everything you read/see on the internet.  But I can really relate to this particular story, and I think many of you moms out there can too. You may have seen the story about the young mom, who happens to be the same age as me.  She wore a bikini for the first time since she had kids to the beach.  A couple of grown men came upon her…

Bikes & Kids

Bikes & Kids

Ride a bike they said.  It’s easy they said. That is what my preteen keeps saying to herself.  She’s a little late, but we got her a different bike this year.  She has been procrastinating riding it.  I made her get on it today.  She’s not happy. I started out helping her.  I was holding one of the handle bars and the back of the bike seat.  I wasn’t helping.  I told her to practice gliding with her legs out…

What’s a Good age to Leave Kids Home Alone?

What’s a Good age to Leave Kids Home Alone?

Every parent has this dilemma with their school aged children.  Many states laws have a very thin line on when children can be left home alone.  A lot of states do not state a specific age, but state it depends on the maturity of the child. There have been many news stories about this topic.  I remember one from a few years back.  Parents left their responsible teenager home while they went out to the store, and while they were…

Favorite Saying

Favorite Saying

You get what you get, and you don’t get upset. I love that saying!  I say it at least once a day to my girls.  Most of the time I don’t even have to finish it.  All I have to say is “You get what you get…” and the girls interrupt me with “…and you don’t get upset.” I first heard that saying back when my preteen was in preschool.  From the moment I hear it, that saying has been…
