School IEP’S & 504 Plans

School IEP’S & 504 Plans

Does your child have an IEP or 504 plan at school? Two of my girls do. The middle school is great with working around my schedule and setting up the meeting date and time. The elementary school is the complete opposite. My daughter’s IEP was done at the end of January 2017, making her next meeting due by the end of January of this year. Her school officials that organize the meeting want to re-due the meeting in September 2017….

Santa Replies!

Santa Replies!

Dear Melanie,   You get into an awful lot of stuff, but you’ve definitely been a very good girl this year. I see you helping grandma, mommy, and Sara around the house with all your cleaning. I even saw you sweeping today. You are an excellent little helper, and I think my elves just might have some good stuff for you this year I saw that nasty fall you took. It seems like you’ve had a rough month! I don’t…

No More Monkeys Jumping on the…Couch?

No More Monkeys Jumping on the…Couch?

I was on my way home from work on my late night last week. I talk to my older girls on my way home to hear how their day went. Once I am home, the younger kids take up most of my time. I am on the phone with my 14 year old and in the middle of our conversation I hear my one year old’s horrific crying and screaming and my 14 year old drop her phone. I tried…

Dear Santa

Dear Santa

Dear Santa, I haven’t written to you in many years.  Just because I haven’t written, does not mean that I no longer believe in you.  I do believe. My two older daughters wrote to you back in 2008.  It was probably the most important letter to you that they have ever written.  we, as a family, had a rough year.  It was a difficult holiday season with the loss of Arianna and Amberly still being in the NICU. The girls…

Melanie Goes to Church

Melanie Goes to Church

It’s hard when you work weekends. Things have calmed down a smudge. I took the three younger girls and Grandma to church this past Sunday morning. I was a bit nervous bringing a toddler to church. I did not know how she would behave as it was her first…

Teenage Driver # 1

Teenage Driver # 1

Every teenager dreams of the day they get their drivers license.  They go into it with the normal teenage mind set of” I know how to do this,” “This is easy, I’ve got this.”  And every parent has the same fears of a hurt kid and smashed up car.  It’s not as quick and easy to get a license like it was 17 years ago. Every state has its own laws about teenage driving.  For instance a teenager can obtained…

Junior Year was a Blur

Junior Year was a Blur

My oldest teen just finished her junior year of high school a few months ago.  It feels like she just started last week.  My straight A, smarty pants teenage daughter did not disappoint this year.  She was taking a mix between honors and IB classes. I give her a lot of credit getting straight A’s and a 4.0 GPA.  On top of her studies, she also babysits her siblings and starts or makes dinner depending on what time I get…

SURPRISE!!!

SURPRISE!!!

You know that moment when you think that you are done having kids.  You say no more, we are all done.  And then one day you wake up and SURPRISE! there is another baby on the way.  Yeah, that was my husband and me last August. We kept our little surprise quiet for quite some time, due to m history of complicated pregnancies.  I was considered high risk right away, and had to be followed by a team of doctors….
